We gather on the front deck of the historic lodge in the morning before the guided mushroom field trips. The lodge also houses the dining room, where we enjoy 3 daily, organic, vegetarian meals.
Walk up the trail beyond the lodge to reach the series of meadow pools filled with water from the natural hot springs.
The 3 meadow pools get hotter the farther you walk out and are open 24 hours. Be sure to bring a flashlight so you can find them at night.
The meadow pools are lined with river rock and the water changed regularly. Relax in peace while you're surrounded by ancient forest and a glacier-fed river. Clothing optional.
A long soak in the hot springs feels amazing after a day of hiking through the woods. Bring your fluffiest bath robe for maximum comfort.
The Breitenbush hot springs resort is tucked into 154 acres of wildlife sanctuary in the
Willamette National Forest of the Oregon Cascades.
The cozy cabins are never without geothermal heat. But leave your electronics at home. At Breitenbush, we'll be living off the grid.
On cold days, steam from the springs rises throught the Breitenbush campus. You'll want to spend extra time in the pools to warm your bones.
The Breitenbush sauna is like no other sauna you will ever experience. The cedar cabin, on right, sits perched above scalding hot, running spring water.
Behind the sauna, take a cold dunk in the bath or rinse yourself with a shower before you head back into the steam.
The sanctuary is reserved for your personal quiet-time needs. You can retreat here to meditate, practice yoga or just be alone in nature.
Breitenbush staff cooks up 3 daily meals of organic, vegetarian cuisine, with many gluten-free options, in the resort kitchen. If you plan to spend the day in the woods, reserve a sack lunch.
Breitenbush is a worker-owned cooperative with a mission to provide a safe and potent environment
where people can renew and evolve in ways they never imagined.
Trails that radiate from Breitenbush lead you through ancient forest cathedrals, past river cascades and to magnificent mountain vistas.
Take a meditative walk to the center of the stone labyrinth, enhanced by the song of the nearby river.
